Wat does a windpipe contained by our body do?

kinda ..dunno ^^ Audrey, you breathe through your stomach? Guess you digest your food in your lungs, consequently. Curious.
The windpipe is the trachea. It runs from your throat to your bronchial tubes which in turn connect to your lungs. To prevent food from entering your windpipe, it have a small flap of skin at the entrance (epiglottis). When you eat, this flap closes over your trachea to prevent food from entering.
The 'windpipe' is technically call the esophagus. It is the tube which extends from the back of your mouth to your stomach.
